Wine launch grows top relations

Grampians Pyrenees Wine Cooperative has launched its first offering for the Chinese market, Ararat Gold Shiraz, at Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre. The launch encapsulated the growing bond between Ararat Rural City and its Chinese sister city, Taishan. Ararat Regional Business Association hosted a gala dinner and celebrated the launch of the wine which will be exported to China as part of an export initiative formed by a collective of Grampians Pyrenees regional winemakers. Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China Shen Weilan was guest speaker at the dinner. He spoke on issues relating to the impact of China’s new middle class and the strength of the Chinese economy on the world stage. The Pyrenees collective, made up of nine small to medium sized winemakers, has banded together to create a shiraz blend from the old gold-bearing ranges and valleys of the Grampians and Pyrenees region. Ararat Gold Shiraz celebrates the strong link between Ararat and Taishan, which was brought into fruition in September 1994.
