Natimuk Show schedule set

Natimuk Show organisers are encouraging Wimmera residents to make the most of skills and hobbies honed throughout the coronavirus pandemic by entering a range of competitions.

Natimuk Agricultural and Pastoral Society leaders have released the schedule for the organisation’s 129th show, on March 27.

Society secretary Judith Bysouth said there was already plenty of excitement surrounding this year’s event, particularly after the 2020 show was cancelled at the ‘11th hour’ due to the pandemic.

“It seems to be the same with the return of the Natimuk markets, which have been incredibly well supported – you don’t know what you have until it’s taken away from you,” she said.

“Now our schedule is out, people can read it and work out which competitions they would like to enter this year.

“Some people might have plums or apricots on their trees and want to make jam, others might want to start training their dog for a tricks section or hone their skills for the shearing competition. The possibilities are endless.”

Mrs Bysouth encouraged people to grab a copy of the show schedule.

“We’ve actually republished last year’s schedule, along with a fully revised horse schedule,” she said.

She said the new horse schedule included an interschool section.

“Due to COVID all the school events were cancelled. Our show is at a good time, so the students can compete for points and experience ahead of the state championships in April,” she said.

Schedules cost $5 and are available at the town’s post office, milk bar and art and craft shop. They will also be sold at Natimuk Farmers Market events on January 31 and March 7.

Mrs Bysouth said the schedule was also available for free online at www.vicagshows.com.au/natimuk-ap-society.

“We hope everyone takes the opportunity to be involved in this year’s show and we are excited to have another opportunity to present such an important, historic community event,” she said.
