For the Birds

the first art piece funded under Horsham Rural City Council’s new public art policy has been officially launched.
Aerial is a metal sculpture that lines Horsham’s Jos Lane at the top end of Firebrace Street.
The sculpture is the work of Irish-born artist Donal Molloy Drum, who produced the piece with the help of students from the McKenzie Creek campus of Horsham College.
Donal said his love for Australian ravens inspired the sculpture which features a bird’s eye view of the Banyena district that he now calls home.
Donal, centre, is pictured with the sculpture at Tuesday’s launch flanked by Year 8 students Christian Harrison and Jesse Aird, Horsham mayor Cr Michael Ryan and Horsham Rural City Council’s cultural development officer Greg Pritchard.
