Richards helps with fund-raiser

VISIT: Two-time Bathurst winner Steve Richards and his Porsche Carrera car will visit the Wimmera.

Laser Racing and Porsche Carrera Cup team driver Steve Richards will join Laser Electrical Horsham in the Wimmera next week to help raise money for Wimmera Health Care Group.
The 1998-99 back-to-back V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 winner and his Porsche Carrera car will be at Horsham’s West Side Tabaret from 2pm to 5pm on Friday week.
Richards will be available to meet members of the public for photographs and to sign posters during this time.
Organisers have also invited schoolchildren to meet Richards at the Tabaret between 2pm and 3pm on Friday week.
Laser Electrical Horsham has organised an exclusive invitation-only auction night which will start at the end of the public meet and greet, with all auction proceeds going to Wimmera Health Care Group.
Richards is squeezing the Wimmera visit into a busy spring schedule which includes racing at Phillip Island this weekend and Bathurst on October 6 and 7.
He said he was always happy to take motor sport to regional fans and it was a bonus that a visit could help raise money for health services.
“I couldn’t be happier to support this event. There are a lot of motor-racing fans in the area that don’t get an opportunity to go to motor-racing events. This is an opportunity for us to not only make people aware of Laser and to raise money for a good cause, but also bring motor-racing to the people,” he said.
“It basically gives us a chance to say hi.”
People keen to meet Richards are encouraged to attend Horsham’s West Side Tabaret between 2pm and 3pm on September 23.
