Horsham agricultural student trainee apprentice Dustin Cross was among major winners at Victorian Training Awards.
Mr Cross, who has completed his Certificate IV in Agriculture and is now studying full-time for an Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management at Longerenong College, won a Trainee of the Year category.
He and other winners have each pocketed $5000 in prize money and will now represent Victoria at 2017 Australian Training Awards in Canberra.
The awards recognise and honour outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees, students, teachers and training businesses.
Another Longerenong student Cara Hadzig was also a finalist for the award.

Longerenong College business development officer Donna Winfield said both students should be proud of their achievements.
“We congratulate them both, especially Dustin for winning the award,” she said.
“These results are personally great achievements for both of them and are likely to help open career doors for them in the future.
“They also provide insight into the opportunities that can manifest when students study at Longerenong and points to continued growth in agribusiness.”
