Ash Hawker shoots to wins at worlds

Horsham competitive shooter Ash Hawker is a world champion in his field after winning the 40th FITASC Universal Trench World Championship.

Hawker shot 197 of 200 targets to take home the win, one point ahead of second place.

The event was hosted at Umbriaverde Shooting Range in Italy from August 4 to 7.

Universal trench involves targets being thrown from one of five traps installed in a trench and the machines release the clays at different angles, speeds and elevations.

Although the sequence of the targets vary between each competitor so they never know where or how the target will fly, each competitor receives the same targets by the end of each round.

Each round consists of 25 single targets with two shots allowed for each target and a single point awarded for each successful shot, regardless of whether it was the first or second shot.
