Auxiliary establishes targets

Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary’s executive team were voted in at its annual general meeting, where long-standing team member Joy Smith stepped down from the group.

President Lesley Lane gave her report, thanking her team for the years’ work and attendance. All positions for the executive team were made vacant with the following members being voted in: president Lesley Lane; vice-president Lea Crammond; secretary and treasurer Maureen Webb; vice-treasurer Jane Bolwell, welfare officer Rae Hill and publicity officer Lea Crammond.

The auxiliary made $50,000 available in the next financial year to cover leasing costs for essential medical equipment for the palliative care team to use as necessary.

Hospice co-ordinator Larna Woodyatt and palliative care nurse Deb Funcke attended the meeting, thanking the auxiliary for its work and dedication by providing funds for medical equipment, used for clients palliating at home.

They also requested some extra items: portable oxygen concentrators and pressure stockings in two sizes to have in stock, which the auxiliary voted unanimously to purchase.

Mrs Crammond said the auxiliary had a fashion parade planned for October 7 and was currently working on the fundraising ideas that were put forward at the meeting.

“The auxiliary is always very interested in encouraging new members,” she said.

“We are a very dedicated team fundraising for a magnificent cause and we need many more members to achieve our goals.”
