Horsham newcomer Harshdeep Singh has dominated in the teams’ singles competition, and as predicted, was the prized winner of the championship singles final, defeating Sawyer 30-21.
Caitlin Sawyer defended her 2025 singles title in the A Grade Ladies’ event, smoothly outpacing Ellen Jalil 30-9, and teamed with Barton to comfortably finish top of the A Grade Ladies’ round-robin format.
B Grade men’s singles came down to the wire with Rohan Austin overcoming Alvin James in the final 30-28.
B Grade ladies’ singles saw the experienced Helen Francisco tactically defeat Carolyn Beggs 30-18.
Jayden Robertson teamed with Aden Merrett to be victorious over James and Laurie Liston in the B Men’s final 30-22.
Robertson also played in the B mixed doubles final, partnering Noime Powel, but they were unable to match the strong pairing of Harry Foster and Lea Maier, who won 30-24.
The B Grade Ladies’ doubles final has been agreed to be played on Monday next week, where Whitney O’Sullivan and Jenny Maroske will take on Carolyn Beggs and Elley Cummings in what should be a close match.
For the first time there was a junior singles competition and Jackson Hams played outstandingly, defeating Jack Sawyer 30-13.
Horsham Badminton will resume its popular teams competition on Monday, with finals to be played in September.
