Horsham Arts Council kicked off proceedings on December 2, bringing a ‘swing vibe’ to classic carol ‘Jingle Bells’.
Horsham School of Music secondary students followed suit with ‘Joy to the World’. The students, from years eight to 11, have been having singing lessons with Lisa Thomas and hail from Horsham, Hamilton, Haven and Rupanyup.
On Monday, viewers were treated to a duet by Grace O’Donnell-Clancy and Jamie Thomas, singing O Holy Night.
Acousticus Stomp frontman Paul Christopher said he and bandmates Malcolm Schier and Jono Martin loved the opportunity to participate in this year’s carols.
“Jono our guitarist has been involved in carols for years, I did one years ago and we thought it would be a good thing to be involved in for the community,” he said.
“Malcolm lives at Murtoa so he asked if we could use the iconic stick shed for our performance. They agreed and let us do it free of charge. The video came up really well.
“We were probably in there for about three or four hours, it doesn’t just come together in two minutes. But it was a nice thing to do for the community. We enjoyed it and I hope others do too.
“Hopefully next year we can be back to an in-person event but I think, particularly given COVID as well as the unpredictable weather we’ve had lately, this year’s format is a good option.”
Acousticus Stomp’s version of ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ will be released at some stage this month.
Organisers are keeping the schedule a surprise and will upload a video every second day until Christmas Eve.
