Update: No leads on Horsham dog attack

Despite door-knocking 170 homes, Horsham Rural City Council still has no leads on the whereabouts of two dogs who attacked a child in Horsham last week.

Council is appealing for information following the dog attack, which occurred opposite Farrar Avenue near the Wimmera River between 4.15pm and 4.30pm on Friday, April 5.

The attack left a three-year-old boy requiring surgery.

Council is urging the owner of the dogs to do the right thing and contact council.

"The Local Laws team has door-knocked 170 homes in the Barnes Boulevard area and reviewed CCTV, but there are no leads yet," a council spokesperson said.

Two medium-sized dogs were unaccompanied and unrestrained when they attacked the child.

The dogs are described as short-haired, possibly not wearing collars, with one being black and the other white with black patches.

The boy’s parents intervened and ended the attack before the dogs left the area in opposite directions along Barnes Boulevard.

It is not known if the dogs belong to the same owner.

The council’s local laws team attended the scene.

Witnesses to the dogs in the area, or those with CCTV footage, are asked to call the council on 5382 9777.
