Ararat has joined the list of western Victorian municipalities in recording a case of COVID-19.

Officials figures show Ararat Rural City now has one case, alongside Northern Grampians, three, Horsham two and Yarriambiack one.

The overall number of official cases in Victoria is officially 917, an increase of 96 from yesterday.

The number includes 501 men and 413 women and five pre-school-aged children.

There are 29 people in hospital, including four in intensive care, and 291 people have recovered.

Of the total 917 cases, 728 have been in Melbourne and 173 in regional Victoria and some cases remain under investigation.
