Dinosaurs on road to Natimuk Show

By Bronwyn Hastings

Dinosaurs will feature alongside the traditional attractions at this year’s Natimuk Show, from food to displays to entertainment for all ages.

Natimuk Agricultural and Pastoral Society secretary Judith Bysouth said Saturday’s community event would also feature competitions, yard dog trials and exhibits.

“The theme of dinosaurs, it’s really taken off and we’ve got some very excited children,” she said.

“The face-painting includes a choice of dinosaurs, the sandpit dig has nine dinosaur eggs to be found, and there will be ‘real’ dinosaurs roaming around.

“Melbourne Museum is bringing their dinosaur collection, and they’ll have dinosaur mask-making.

“Beyond Inclusion has got dinosaur cut-outs, made by Natimuk Men’s Shed, so they’ll supervise those paintings.”

Mrs Bysouth said there were raffle prizes of a Jurassic Park knitted dinosaur scene, and a dinosaur bathtowel and facewasher.

“And you can have dinosaur nuggets for lunch,” she said.

The Natimuk Shearing and Woolhandling Competition starts at 9am, at 1pm a pet dog competition is judged, and Natimuk Brass Band begins playing, before the opening of the show at 1.30pm.

Master and Miss Natimuk will be judged in front of the pavilion at 2pm.

“A ploughman’s lunch will be served in our main pavilion from 12 noon until 2pm,” Mrs Bysouth said.

“Morning tea is from 10am until 11am, with afternoon tea from 2.45pm to 4pm.

“People can also order the family evening meal from 5.30pm until 6pm.”

The show will also feature a range of free entertainment options including a climbing wall, header simulator, Lego, a pop-up museum, stunt cars for those aged eight years and older, Wobbly Spoons circus skills, and a Victorian Pistol Club mobile shooting gallery for people aged 18 years and older.

People can skip the queue and buy gate tickets online at www.ticketbeo.co/natimukshow. Admission for non-members is $20, aged pensioners $10, children 13 to 18 years $5, and family membership $40.

Children aged 12 and younger can enter free of charge.
