Donald Show was also the people’s choice award winner, achieving 721 of the 2518 votes made during the month of April.
The top 10 shows were: Donald Show, 721; Whittlesea, 255; Foster, 175; Kyneton, 161; Boort, 122; Horsham, 102; Sunbury, 97; Goroke, 77; Nathalia Show, 73; and Bendigo, 61.
At Saturday’s convention dinner at Wangaratta, Ms Nunn’s contribution was outlined; she has been involved in the Donald Show for 21 years, has held every executive position and has been president since 2019.
She manages social media and has introduced new and impressive attractions, and is the current president of Wimmera Group of Shows.
Ms Nunn said she was privileged to work with ‘some pretty amazing people’.
“The team at the Donald Show is absolutely amazing, and then you extend that to the Wimmera group,” she said.
“There are some pretty amazing women and men that I get to work alongside and I have the privilege of saying that some of them have become my very close friends.
“Getting involved in your agricultural show is something that is quite rewarding, but you can also make some lifelong friends along the way.”
In accepting the people’s choice award, Ms Nunn thanked everyone who had voted for Donald Show.
“We are very, very fortunate to have a very small, but a very productive team who just get in and get things done,” she said.
“I thank all of those men and women. I thank my family, my mum, my dad, my husband, my kids, because this takes a fair chunk of our time, as you would all know.
“Thanks everybody who voted for us – it was worth it – and make sure you follow Donald show on Facebook and Instagram and come to the show on October 9 and 10 this year.”
Stawell’s Emma Bourke was a finalist in the outstanding individual contribution 39 years-and-under category, for her part in establishing the horsemanship challenge, serving as show secretary, and bringing strong organisational skills to the society.
Goroke Show’s junior ambassador Lucinda Smith was also a state finalist for her contribution, representing both Goroke and Wimmera Group of Shows.
