A community farm forum at Goroke will feature four guest speakers who will cover livestock production, profitable farming systems, soil health, AI for agriculture and planning for the future of farming businesses.

The free event, hosted by Goroke Agricultural and Pastoral Society in partnership with Janmac Stud, brings together agriculture, innovation and community for what is expected to be an informative and entertaining day.

Leading the speaker line-up is Lachlan McKenzie, founder of McKenzie Ag, who has spent more than 30 years working in ruminant nutrition, feedlot development and livestock production.

Drawing on his experience building one of Victoria’s largest livestock feed businesses alongside a successful 6000-acre mixed farming enterprise, Mr McKenzie will share practical insights into feed systems, livestock production and the growth of his agricultural businesses. 

He will also be interviewed by Dwain Duxson of The Farmers Club, in what promises to be an engaging conversation drawing on his extensive experience in Australian agriculture.

Joining him is Ben Glass from Hopkins Ag and Ultra Ag, who will explore how healthy soils, multispecies pastures and biological farming systems are helping producers improve productivity, livestock performance and profitability while building more resilient farming businesses for the future.

Agricultural consultant turned AI specialist Claudia Bryant, founder of Grounded AI, will demonstrate how artificial intelligence is becoming a practical tool for farmers, helping reduce administration, unlock better business insights and save valuable time in day-to-day operations.

Rounding out the speaker program is producer and lawyer Claire Booth of CO Booth Law and Advisory, who will deliver ‘a practical and refreshingly honest’ session on succession planning, navigating change across generations and setting farming businesses up for the future.

Event host Grant Hausler said the forum continued to grow each year by bringing together practical information with genuine community connection.

“We’re really excited about the quality and diversity of this year’s speakers,” he said.

“Whether you’re interested in livestock production, improving your farming system, learning about AI or starting conversations about the future of your business, there’s something here for everyone.

“More than anything, it’s a chance to get together, catch up with neighbours and enjoy a great day in our community. 

“We’d love to see plenty of people come along, and don’t be afraid to bring a mate.”

Keeping the day flowing will be MC Tara Rich, while magician Waldo the Great will provide entertainment throughout the day.

A light lunch, tea and coffee will be provided, with drinks available to purchase. All proceeds from the day will support the Goroke Community Centre.
