Horsham Regional Art Gallery school holiday workshops online

Horsham Regional Art Gallery will host a series of online workshops for children during the September school holidays.

The free workshops will feature district artists and provide an opportunity for children aged seven and older to try new approaches and different artistic techniques in a fun way.

In ‘Stop Motion Fun’, Natimuk artist Hannah French will introduce children to making stop-motion films using a board game, smart device and free app.

Former gallery education officer and Art Club teacher Sue Wilson will show participants how to make three-dimensional figures out of cling wrap and sticky tape then ‘make shadows’ on a wall.

Murtoa artist Sue Pavlovich will present two workshops, ‘Drawing + moving’ and ‘Drawing around you’. Gallery director Brenda Wellman said gallery education officer Lorin West had worked with Pavlovich, French and Wilson to create a program that gave kids something new and fun to do during the holidays.

“We know that home-schooling is an extra pressure on parents and we hope that these workshops will give them a break too,” she said.

Families keen to book spots or to find out more can visit website www.horshamtownhall.com.au/exhibitions-whats-on/horsham-regional-art-gallery/kids-schools/.

The gallery is presenting the activities with support of the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
