Milestone weekend for Farr, Elliott

Horsham Demons junior footballers Oakley Farr and Archie Elliott had a weekend to remember, with Farr debuting for the North Ballarat Rebels, while Elliott represented Victoria Country.

Farr is the third Wimmera-based player to debut for the Rebels’ under-18 boys team in the Talent League this season after Riley Downer and Elliott each played their first games in round two.

Also in the Rebels’ squad are Levi Munyard, who debuted last season, and his brother Zane, who is yet to debut.

Spoiling Farr’s debut were the visiting Northern Knights, who handed the Rebels a 17.17 (119) to 9.2 (56) loss at their Mars Stadium home in Ballarat.

Missing the clash was Elliott, who was selected to represent Victoria Country in a showcase match against the Talent League Young Guns on Saturday.

The Young Guns team features overage Talent League players eligible to be selected in this season’s AFL mid-season draft, while for the Victoria Country players the match represented a chance to push for selection at this year’s national championships.

Rebels talent lead Brooke Brown congratulated Elliott on his selection, calling it ‘a great achievement’.
