People attending future events and performances at Horsham Town Hall will be able to have a close-at-hand dining experience with the opening of a new café and bar.

Leesha and Malavika Gunaseelan will open ‘Rooh’ at the town hall’s Pynsent Street entrance to the general public tomorrow.

Until further easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the café will offer takeaway lunch and dinner meals to introduce Horsham diners to plans for an all-day dining experience. Trading hours will be 10am to 8pm, seven days a week.

The couple already operates an in-house restaurant at Stawell’s National Hotel and intends to continue both businesses.

Mr Gunaseelan is an internationally trained chef and will focus on ‘creating house-made dishes with a focus on high-quality fresh produce and simple fare’.

Horsham mayor Mark Radford said Horsham Rural City Council was excited about plans for the restaurant space at the town hall.

“We look forward to working with Leesha and Malavika to create a place for visitors and community to come and enjoy great food and hospitality,” he said.

Horsham Rural City Council had been keen to permanently fill the previously vacant space that was part of the transformation of Horsham Town Hall into a performing arts centre.
