Interstate truck drivers travelling through Victoria from South Australia can undergo testing for COVID-19 near Nhill to prevent any spread from the outbreak in Adelaide.
A testing site will be operational at Nhill Trailer Exchange on the Western Highway from tomorrow.
They will progressively add other testing sites at other major freight routes in coming days. Truck drivers can also undergo testing at any of the 193 other testing sites across Victoria.
Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said while the risk of a truck driver from South Australia bringing COVID-19 into Victoria was low, the Department of Health and Human Services was working with major interstate freight companies, independent operators and industry peak bodies to provide advice about the need for testing.
