PHOTOS: The morning after – residents weigh up storm damage

Residents in Horsham North are today waiting for insurance assessments to damage to their homes after what has been described as a 'mini cyclone' overnight.

The storm at about 12.40am left a line of damage in Horsham's north from Florence Street to Dimboola Road.

Horsham Fire Brigade captain John St Clair said about 20 houses were reported as damaged in the storm.

Albert Street resident Les Alexander woke to find a tree upended in his front yard.

"The wind has just ripped it out of the ground an upturned it on the fence he said.

Hennessy Street resident Duncan Bottoms lost his verandah roof in the storm.

"The air-conditioner is gone and tiles from the roof were blown off too."

Joan Cambourne's house was another of many that lost roof tiles in the storm.

Don Hodge lost a third of his roof but his neighbour fared worse.

"He's lost his whole roof," he said. "The whole house might have to be demolished."

Fire brigade, and SES crews were busy helping residents cleanup the damage from the freak storm.
