Postcards continues tourism push into Wimmera, Grampians and Mallee regions

Filming of a new episode of the television program Postcards featuring the Wimmera, Mallee and Grampians regions wrapped up last week, with the show set to air nationally on June 28.

From a new regional brand identity and the launch of the ‘Feels like’ campaign, to a dedicated push to build the region’s content library through a string of major shoots, to landing the Wimmera Mallee on the front cover of Australian Traveller, 2026 has been significant for the region’s tourism sector.

That momentum continued last week with the Channel Nine Postcards crew visiting towns across the region.

Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism, GWM Tourism, invested $40,000 for the episode, with filming taking place from Dunkeld to Dimboola.

“This episode is another powerful channel in what has been a sustained and deliberate effort to tell the story of this region to new audiences,” GWM Tourism marketing manager Georgia Bennett said.

“A huge thank you to all of the operators and local shires who opened their doors for the crew this week – they’re the reason this region is worth watching.”

Host Livinia Nixon will present attractions from the southern and central Grampians, while co-host Kris Smith will showcase key places to visit from across the Northern Grampians and Wimmera-Mallee.

The episode takes viewers across four distinct segments of the region, featuring the following operators and experiences: IRIS Restaurant and Bar, Pomonal; Serenity Accommodation, Halls Gap; Grampians Estate, Great Western; Acacia Caravan Park, Ararat; Horsham Holiday Park; Horsham Golf Club; Rosehaven Farms, Laharum; Norton Estate, Lower Norton; Dimboola Riverside Holiday Park; Big Bertha, Dimboola; Pink Lake; Woods Heritage Museum, Rupanyup; Hamilton Gallery; Dunkeld Writers Festival at the Royal Mail Hotel, Dunkeld; and Southern Grampians Cottages, Dunkeld.

GWM Tourism chief executive Marc Sleeman said the work being done to raise the profile of the Grampians, Wimmera and Mallee was about real, long-term outcomes for communities and operators.

“The national recognition this region has been receiving tells us the work is landing – and Postcards gives us another opportunity to put this extraordinary part of Victoria in front of people who haven’t discovered it yet,” he said.

The episode airs on Sunday, June 28 on Channel Nine, with national replays on 9Life the following week.
