A $9.3-million Rainbow Radar has started to transmit real-time data that will prove invaluable to farmers and emergency services across the Wimmera-Mallee.

Completion of the Doppler station project means there is no longer a western Victoria ‘black spot’ between Mildura and Mt Gambier in a weather-radar network.

The station, the result of a Wimmera Development Association push for more real-time weather information, will provide farmers with greater confidence in making time-critical cropping decisions.
