Renewable energy to power Halls Gap gardens

Halls Gap Botanic Gardens is set to benefit from a new off-grid solar-power system, including solar panels, an inverter and battery.

Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio toured the gardens to hear about plans for the system to provide power to the visitor shelter, volunteers office and workshop.

Grampians Community Power Hub, one of seven hubs across the state, is overseeing the project.

Each hub is supporting community groups to develop renewable-energy projects by providing energy audits, feasibility testing, system specifications and implementation funding options.

Ms D’Ambrosio said it was wonderful to see Grampians Community Power Hub helping organisations.

“This is all a part of our plan to halve emissions by 2030,” she said.

“We’re investing in the Grampians Community Power Hub because we know community energy plays such an important role in building local support for renewable energy.”
