Stars align in ACE Radio's 40K Countdown

Horsham’s Justin Van Pamelen won $24,000 in ACE radio’s 40K Countdown promotion on Monday, after being one of four left in the running for the prizemoney.

People entered the competition by shopping at participating businesses between April 27 and May 28. Finalists could choose between taking $1000 or staying in the running for the remainder of the $40,000.

Mr Van Pamelen entered the competition when he made an incidental purchase at Hermans of Horsham.

“It was one of those days where you think all the stars are aligning,” he said.

“I was out on my garbage run, and it took me to Laharum where I was at the Australian Wildflowers and they gave me a free bunch of flowers after I asked them where I could buy them.

“I thought I would need a vase for the flowers to give to my missus – for a second Mother’s Day, but, you know, it’s just as important – so, I went and got a nice vase from Hermans.”

Mr Van Pamelen said the winnings would go into saving for a house deposit.

“We’ve been doing really well, just been really tight with budgeting, and this is a huge boost, it just makes the dream closer,” he said.

We Love Horsham

Friday’s MIXX FM, 3WM and The Weekly Advertiser’s We Love Horsham event featured special offers at participating businesses and an outside broadcast by the radio team at Roberts Avenue.

Shoppers could enter the draw to win one of four $250 vouchers. Winners were Cherie Wood, who shopped at J and D Fresh Produce; Katarina Burton, Mackays Family Jewellers; Tasha Scott, Cooks; and Julie Smith, Larder by Lyn.
