A young Horsham woman has secured state recognition at a Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards night for her work in the indigenous community.
Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Cooperative’s Tanisha Lovett became a 2019 Regional Development Victoria Leadership and Innovation Award recipient at a gala presentation at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse last week.
The Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards started in 2002 to encourage, acknowledge and reward individuals, communities and businesses that ‘contribute to making regional Victoria a better place’.
Ms Lovett, 21, described as an outstanding speaker and dedicated mentor, works at indigenous youth camps and is a project facilitator for Horsham’s Kookas after-school club, a program focused on teaching indigenous children about Aboriginal culture.
