Swap challenge for mental health

Headspace Horsham will launch a 14-day ‘swap challenge’ on Monday to promote ways to improve mental health.

Headspace Horsham is encouraging people of all ages to choose a ‘healthy’ activity as part of the challenge, which runs until October 20.

The organisation’s youth engagement and community development co-ordinator Louise Barnett said an example might be to walk to work instead of driving or to break from evenings on social media to read a book.

“The Swap Challenge was created by our Youth Reference Group. We are so proud of the work they have done to raise awareness about mental health. We’re encouraging young Australians in particular to take on some simple ideas to help them build and maintain a healthy headspace.

Ms Barnett said the challenge was as much a chance for adults to act as role models as it was for youth.

She said people could find out more about possible challenges or how to get sponsors by calling 5381 1543 or at Headspace Horsham’s Hamilton Street headquarters.”
