Work to improve Horsham Aquatic Centre

The entrance to Horsham Aquatic Centre will soon become more accessible for patrons as a result of construction of a new ramp.

Horsham Rural City Council infrastructure director John Martin said the project would also include landscaping enhancements and new parking bays for mobility scooters.

“It is important that our highly valued aquatic centre, which attracts people from all over the Wimmera, is as easy as possible for people of all abilities to enter,” Mr Martin said.

“We want everyone to be confident they can enjoy the facility independently or with family and friends.”

Mr Martin said works were underway and, weather permitting, should be completed by the end of August.

“During the construction period there should be minimal disruption for users to the aquatic centre . However we ask that people use caution when entering and exiting the building,” he said.

Meanwhile, the council has advised aquatic centre users that the indoor pool will be closed for about three weeks during the second half of August to allow contractors to replace rubber flooring surrounding both pools.

The indoor concourse is 15 years old and has reached the end of its life.
